- Family Releases Statement on His Struggle with Mental Illness
- Co-Stars and Celebrities Pay Tribute to Cloud’s Talent and Legacy
Angus Cloud, who starred in the successful HBO series Euphoria, has passed away at the age of 25.
According to a publicist, Cloud, who portrayed drug dealer Fezco “Fez” O’Neill in the teen drama, passed away on Monday at his family residence in Oakland, California.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human being today,” the Cloud family said.
Last week, Cloud attended the funeral of his father in Ireland and, according to his family, “heavily struggled with this loss.”
The fact that he was reunited with his father, who was his closest friend, provided some solace, according to a statement.
“Angus was open about his struggle with mental illness, and we hope that his passing will serve as a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this alone in silence,” the statement read.
We hope he will be remembered for his sense of humor, hilarity, and love for all people.
Two weeks ago, Cloud posted an Instagram photo of his father with the caption “Miss you, bro.”
His cause of death remains undetermined.
Cloud had small roles in the films North Hollywood and The Line. He had also appeared in music videos for Becky G, Karol G, and Juice WRLD, among others.
However, his career took off once he earned the role of Fez, a high school drug dealer, in the film Euphoria.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the role made Cloud a breakout celebrity, and his character was expanded in the second season.
Last year, in an interview with Variety, Cloud stated that fan comparisons to his on-screen character bothered him.
“It’s not that simple,” he stated. “I brought a lot to the character.”
As a teenager, he sustained a traumatic brain injury, which partially explains why his voice on the program is so slow.
According to a 2019 interview with GQ, Cloud never aspired to be a celebrity or even an actor.
He worked at a chicken and waffle business when a casting agent approached him on the street, the publication reported.
“I was confused and didn’t want to give her my phone number,” Cloud told GQ. “I thought it was a scam.”
In 2022, Euphoria was the most-tweeted U.S. television show.
Zendaya plays a 17-year-old fentanyl and morphine addict.
In a 2022 interview with TMZ, Cloud also defended allegations that the program glorified drug use.
Sam Levinson, the author of Euphoria, stated, “There was no one like Angus. He was too unique, talented, and youthful to have left us so soon.
After Cloud’s passing, model Sydney Martin posted heart emoticons on Instagram.
Cloud’s co-star Javon “Wanna” Walton, who played Cloud’s adoptive sibling Ashtray on the show, posted the following message on Instagram: “Rest easy brother.”
Rep. Barbara Lee of California lamented the loss of “Oakland’s own” in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“His extraordinary talent impacted the lives of countless individuals. His work and legacy will continue in perpetuity and make Oakland proud,” she wrote.
Kerry Washington, an actress, also posted on the site: “You will be sorely missed. Rest in authority”
HBO also stated in a statement that Cloud was an extraordinarily gifted and beloved member of the Euphoria family.
