- Ukraine council hit by explosives
- 26 injured, 6 critical
- Possible terrorist attack
According to the police, a village councilor in western Ukraine threw explosives onto the floor of a council meeting, injuring twenty-six individuals.
The assault occurred at the village council headquarters in Keretsky, western Transcarpathian, on Friday morning.
Police have not begun investigating the motivation for the incident, which left six individuals badly injured.
A Facebook livestream of the meeting was in progress at the time of the incident.
Council members were engaged in a contentious debate regarding their 2024 budget, the financial results of the current year, and a vote on whether or not to award an incentive to the council chief.
Approximately ninety minutes into the meeting, one of the village councilors can be heard on the footage yelling in opposition to the budget. After exiting the room while donning a dark jacket, the man accompanies another individual.

He returns a few moments later and positions himself before the entrance. Immediately after that, he removes several grenades from the compartments of his jacket.
He attempts to gain some audience interest by asking, “May I, may I?” before hurling the explosives into the center of the room. Soon after that, they detonate.

“As a result, twenty-six people were injured, six of whom are in critical condition,” according to the police statement, which also stated that emergency personnel were attempting to revive the grenade thrower.
Later, police reported that the assailant was transported in critical condition to an intensive care unit at the hospital.
As a result of the war with Russia, many Ukrainians have access to armaments. But there is currently no evidence linking the attack to the conflict.
Kerensky is a village near the Hungarian border with a population of about four thousand.
Authorities in Ukraine assert that the SBU security service will classify the occurrence as a “terrorist attack” following its investigation.
