- Milo, a UK dog, goes missing at Melbourne Airport
- Found after 17 days in Melbourne suburbs, reunites with owner
- Owner overjoyed, grateful for community support during search
Milo, a Jack Russell Terrier cross, escaped his handler at Melbourne Airport as he prepared to fly home to Swansea.
A canine reported missing in Australia for over two weeks has been returned to his owners in the United Kingdom.
Jason Whatnall’s partner, Nick Rowlands recently brought their dog Milo to Jason’s native state of Victoria, Australia.
However, just before their return flight to Swansea, the Jack Russell Terrier cross-evaded his handler at Melbourne Airport.
Then, the five-and-a-half-year-old dog embarked on an extraordinary journey, disappearing for seventeen days in the Melbourne suburbs before being located.
Mr. Whatnall disclosed that the sight of his cherished Milo reunited him with tears in his eyes.

It was simply incredible to have Milo return. He declared that he was so ecstatic that he was on the verge of shrieking.
Everyone, including myself, shed tears; it was very passionate. Following that, we spent time together with him.
Mr. Whatnall and Mr. Rowlands, who were in Swansea on the opposite side of the globe, had become progressively more apprehensive about Milo’s whereabouts.
We went twelve days without any sightings. We had yet to learn where he had gone. As a result, the situation was somewhat discouraging and hopeless, Mr. Whatnall continued.
Volunteer assistance poured in, which was fortunate for Milo, following an appeal on social media.
Mr. Whatnall stated, “We began receiving sightings from individuals in the vicinity who kept spotting him left, right, and center.”
Thus, we ultimately pinpointed his location, they set the snare, and they captured him approximately forty-eight hours later.
It was a harrowing ordeal; most dogs are located within 48 hours, so I accomplished this feat after being on the opposite side of the globe for seventeen days. I am indebted to the community, the volunteers, and everyone who assisted.
Mr. Whatnall expressed his happiness that the news was “good” and his eagerness to “move on with his life and establish himself in Wales.”
