Between Cribbs Causeway and Avonmouth, the highway was closed at approximately 8:40 a.m. According to National Highways, there are at least one-hour delays in both directions. According to police, there were no reported injuries.

The M5 has been closed in both directions after a tipper truck collided with an overhead gantry, leaving behind its cargo.

After the accident, the interstate between Cribbs Causeway and Avonmouth was closed from approximately 8:40 am.

No fatalities were reported, according to the Avon and Somerset Police.

According to National Highways, there are at least one-hour delays in both directions.

According to the organization: “The M5 in Gloucestershire is closed northbound between J18A (M49) and J17 (Cribbs Causeway) and southbound between J17 and J18 due to a collision involving a tipper lorry and an overhead gantry sign in lane one”.

“Avon & Somerset Police and other emergency agencies are present. National Highways Traffic Authorities are also present to assist with traffic management.”

Avon and Somerset Police reported: “We were dispatched to the M5 at approximately 8:20 a.m. today (Thursday, 2 March) in response to reports of a tipper lorry colliding with an overhead gantry on the southbound carriageway between junctions 17 (Cribbs Causeway) and 18. (Avonmouth).

“The highway is presently closed in both directions.

“There have been no reported injuries.”
