There have been reports of debris in the water, and other fishing vessels have joined the hunt.
Off the coast of New Jersey, a “massive search and rescue operation” has been begun after a ship collided with a fishing vessel, which is believed to have sunk.
The event occurred at approximately 5:30 this morning at sea in St. Ouen’s Bay.
There is debris from the fishing vessel in the water.
The RNLI’s inshore and all-weather lifeboats, along with two French rescue helicopters, the RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat from Guernsey, and a French naval fixed-wing aircraft, joined the search.
A significant number of local fishing vessels have joined the search.
In a statement to the Jersey Evening Post, Condor stated, “Condor Ferries can confirm that its freight vessel, Commodore Goodwill, was engaged in an incident north-northwest of Jersey.”
The ship departed Guernsey for Jersey at 04:41 this morning, and the incident took place at approximately 05:30.
