David Lee, age 40, told police he believed the seagull was injured and was looking for a veterinarian’s number. However, a police investigation revealed that he was viewing pornographic material at the time of the incident.

The incident, which occurred in a Sunderland alleyway in August of last year, was captured on CCTV.

Lee claimed he was attempting to assist the injured seagull when he was arrested at a nearby fast-food restaurant.

He claimed that he was searching for a veterinarian’s phone number rather than viewing pornographic material at the time.

However, police investigations subsequently revealed that he had visited adult websites.

In April, Lee, of Sunderland, pleaded guilty in South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court to causing unnecessary suffering to the avian.

He once again appeared in court on Wednesday.

The sentencing was postponed to allow for the preparation of a psychiatric report.
