During his racing tenure, the 46-year-old had competed in 21 TT races and won 18 trophies.
Organizers have verified that a participant in the Isle of Man TT Races has died.
46-year-old Raul Torras Martinez was slain in an accident during the inaugural Supertwin Race of the year.
At Alpine, between the 16th and 17th-mile markers on the final circuit of the three-lap race, an accident occurred.
“Raul was an experienced TT competitor who made his debut in 2017, finishing 15th in the Supertwin Race,” read a statement from the event’s organizers.
“Earlier today in the Superstock Race, he recorded his fastest ever lap of the TT Mountain Course, with an average speed of 125.470mph and a 20th-place finish.
Raul was the quickest Spaniard to ever complete a circuit of the TT course.
Mr. Martinez participated in 21 TT races and was awarded 18 Bronze Replica trophies.
The organizers expressed their “deepest condolences” to Mr. Martinez’s family, friends, and loved ones, describing him as an “extremely popular member of the paddock family” with a contagious smile.
A father and son were slain during the competition last year.
In the final circuit of the second sidecar race, an accident at Ago’s Leap claimed the lives of driver Roger Stockton, 56, and his passenger Bradley, 21.
Gary Thompson, the TT’s chief executive, told that riders must accept risks while insisting that the event is doing more than ever to enhance safety.
“We strive to manage risk significantly better than in the past,” he said.
“The motorcyclists sign up knowing the inherent danger. And this is essentially their challenge. We manage this risk without eliminating the challenge.”
The TT is a two-week event that draws together motorcycle road racers from around the world. The first week consists primarily of practice sessions, followed by a week of competition.
The Supertwin race is comprised of twin-cylinder 700cc motorcycles derived from middleweight street motorcycles modified for racing.
