Four boys have been detained in Rochdale on suspicion of rape, according to the police.
On Saturday at approximately 18:00 GMT, Greater Manchester Police reported that the lads, aged 12, 13, 14, and 14, were in custody following a report from a “young female” who alleged she was raped in the Newbold area.
According to the force, the four boys are still being questioned in custody.
The minor who reported the assault is “currently receiving support from specialised officers,” the statement continued.
A representative stated that forensic officers and a police dog team had been dispatched to a scene on Kingsway to search the area’s undergrowth.
The cordoned-off area is located in a supermarket car park. It is approximately 165 metres from the Newbold Metrolink tram stop and 100 metres from the store entrance.
Anyone in the vicinity at the time of the alleged assault or who may have information regarding what transpired is urged to contact the police.
