According to prevailing public health advice, the 75-year-old monarch was eager to disclose the specifics of his prognosis to encourage other men experiencing similar symptoms to seek medical attention.
The King is scheduled to undergo treatment at the hospital the following week for an enlarged prostate.
Buckingham Palace has announced that although the 75-year-old monarch’s condition is benign, his public engagements will be postponed for a few days as he recovers from the corrective procedure.
He was eager to disclose the specifics of his prognosis to motivate other males who might be experiencing similar symptoms to seek medical attention by public health recommendations.
The succession of engagements and conferences that the King had arranged to take place at Dumfries House in East Ayrshire on Thursday and Friday is being rescheduled per his physician’s advice.
The palace update was received in less than two hours following the announcement. The Princess of Wales, his daughter-in-law, had undergone abdominal surgery and would remain hospitalized for a maximum of two weeks.
Monarch’s Benign Prostate Condition
The palace stated in a statement: “The King, like thousands of other males annually, has sought treatment for a prostate enlargement.
“His Majesty will undergo a corrective procedure at the hospital the following week; his condition is benign.”
Public engagements of the monarch will be temporarily rescheduled to allow for restoration.
Benign enlarged prostate affects urine patterns in males over 50, according to the NHS.
It is not cancerous and does not typically pose a significant health risk,” the NHS stated on its website.
A considerable number of males harbour concerns that an enlarged prostate signifies an elevated susceptibility to prostate cancer. “The assertion is false.”
Complications associated with benign prostate enlargement include acute urinary retention, chronic urinary retention, and urinary tract infection.
The NHS also stated that although the exact cause of prostate enlargement is unknown. Hormonal fluctuations that occur with age are suspected to be a contributing factor.
