- Prince Andrew denies accusations
- Police not investigating
- Epstein court documents unsealed
A statement from the Metropolitan Police follows an anti-monarchy pressure group’s allegation that the Duke of York was reported to British law enforcement officers following the unsealing of new Epstein documents. Prince Andrew refutes categorically all accusations levelled against him.
According to the Metropolitan Police, an unsealed court document naming Prince Andrew among dozens of individuals identified as associates of Jeffrey Epstein has not prompted the initiation of any investigation.
Dozens of Epstein’s associates are named in the newly disclosed court documents, although the majority of them are not charged with any wrongdoing.
A woman named Johanna Sjoberg testified in May 2016 and claimed in one document that the Duke of York touched her breast in 2001 while she was seated on a sofa in the Manhattan apartment of the American billionaire. Sjoberg was providing testimony at the time.
Buckingham Palace has stated “categorically untrue” regarding the allegations in the past.
After the documents were revealed, Republic, a monarchy-abolitionist pressure group, reported Prince Andrew to the police.
Graham Smith, the chief executive officer of the organisation, demanded that the Metropolitan Police initiate an investigation. He also queried the monarch regarding a public statement.
Criminal investigations and witness interviews with the accused or others have not yet been completed, according to Mr. Smith. Additionally, there is no rationale for the absence of any action.
The Metropolitan Police stated in a statement, We are cognizant of the disclosure of court documents concerning Jeffrey Epstein.”
We will evaluate any new and pertinent information that is brought to our attention, just as we do with any other matter.
There is no active investigation at this time.
As early as 14, Epstein, a discredited financier, was accused of abusing minors.
In 2019, his remains were found in his Manhattan federal prison cell while awaiting sex trafficking prosecution.
Ghislaine Maxwell is presently incarcerated for a period of twenty years subsequent to her conviction for aiding in the enlistment and preparation of adolescents for sexual exploitation by Epstein.

Prince Andrew has vehemently refuted any previous allegations levied against him.
He reached an extrajudicial settlement with Virginia Giuffre in 2022, following her allegation that the prince sexually assaulted her at the age of seventeen.
As much as £12 million was reportedly paid in that settlement, which did not constitute an admission of culpability.
The duke’s closeness with Epstein led Buckingham Palace to stop representing him after his 2019 resignation. The palace has refrained from providing any commentary regarding the documents.
