After the marked police vehicle with its lights and sirens activated collided with the 11-year-old juvenile, multiple investigations are underway.
A Lancaster 11-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a police vehicle.
Just before 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, the child was struck while crossing the street.
The Lancaster Area Police Department stated that their vehicle was en route to an emergency call and that the collision was under investigation.
As is customary for such incidents, the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) has also been notified.
A spokesperson for the IOPC stated, “According to our information, a marked police van with its lights and sirens activated collided with an 11-year-old child.
“He has been transported to the hospital, and our thoughts are with him and his loved ones.”
The force notified us shortly after the collision, and at 10:37 p.m., we initiated an investigation.
“IOPC investigators are en route to the site as the police initiate the post-incident procedure to collect information.
“Our investigation is at an early stage.”
Police requested any information, including CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, adding, “Our thoughts are with the child’s loved ones at this time.”
