Planned Accrington has the UK’s first 3D-printed dwellings.

According to a company, the construction of 46 eco-homes for homeless veterans and low-income families will be the first 3D-printed project in the United Kingdom.

According to Building for Humanity, its £6 million Charter Street project in Accrington will be the first to be constructed with 3D concrete printing technology.

The company stated that employing the technology will reduce costs and construction timeframes.

Its founder, Scott Moon, stated that the mission was to “ensure that everyone has access to quality housing.”

Planned Accrington has the UK's first 3D-printed dwellings.

“The strategy is straightforward: to establish a nonprofit housing organization that prioritizes human fulfillment and well-being over profit,” he explained.

“This development is ultimately about so much more than houses.

It is about giving people the opportunity to flourish.”

In addition to the 3D printing, other building components, such as doors, windows, floors, and roofs, will be manufactured before being transported to the construction site.

The company has been testing the 3D concrete printing technology at Accrington and Rossendale College, which will soon begin providing courses in the field.

Firm plans UKs first 3D printed

The housing, health, and well-being lead for Hyndburn Council, Councillor Kath Pratt, described the initiative, which will feature flats, houses, a community center, and common gardens, as “a magnificent project” that will assist the most disadvantaged.

She stated that the company “strives to help disadvantaged people gain access to high-quality housing with assistance and supports the local government by sheltering the homeless and those at risk of rough sleeping.”
