Two students aged 19 and a man in his 50s were stabbed to death in Nottingham, according to police.

The students from the University of Nottingham were murdered in Ilkeston Road around 4:00 BST on Tuesday, while the body of the man was discovered in Magdala Road.

Police believe that the older victim’s van was stolen and used to attack three persons on Milton Street, leaving one in critical condition.

A 31-year-old male was Tasered and detained by police on suspicion of murder.

After the “horrific and tragic” attacks in the city, Nottinghamshire Police stated that officers were keeping an “open mind” and that detectives were not searching for anyone else.

Chief of Police Kate Meynell stated at a press conference outside a police station in the city, “Police were summoned to Ilkeston Road shortly after 4 a.m. after a member of the public reported that two 19-year-olds had been stabbed and were unresponsive”.

We responded to a second incident in Milton Street, where the driver of a van that had been stolen attempted to run over three persons.

This tragedy left one person critically injured and two others with minor injuries.

“The van was then stopped on Maple Street, where a man suspected of murder was Tasered and detained by police officers.” A male in his fifties was also discovered stabbed to death on Magdala Road by a member of the public.

“At this time, we believe the suspect seized this man’s vehicle and drove it to Milton Street, where he then drove at members of the general public.

“The investigation is still in its preliminary phases. I must determine the precise motivations behind this onslaught.”

The city center is surrounded by multiple cordons, with Ilkeston Road, Magdala Road, Milton Street, and Maple Street remaining closed.

A property on Ilkeston Road was also raided by armed officers shortly before 13:00.

Two women were seen being removed from a commercial property in a police van on the road.

One witness saw a young guy and woman wounded on Ilkeston Road near Bright Street around 04:00.

The man, who requested anonymity, stated that he heard “terrible, bloodcurdling screams” and saw a black-clad individual with a hood and rucksack “grappling with some people.”

He stated, “It was a girl accompanied by a young-looking man or boy.”

She was yelling, ‘Help!’ I wish I had exclaimed something out the window to intimidate the attacker.

“I witnessed him first stab the boy, then the mother. It involved multiple stabbings – four or five times. The youngster collapsed in the center of the street.

“The girl staggered towards a house and remained immobile. The following instant, she vanished down the side of a home, and that is where they discovered her.”

A male student who knew one of the victims exclaimed, “It aches so much.

“This is the first time I’ve dealt with something like this, and it’s a challenge at university.

“The road I reside on leads directly to the scene of the incident. When something like this occurs on your doorstep, you feel terrified and terrified.

Some victims injured in the van attack were waiting at a bus stop, according to the mayor of Nottingham.

David Mellen stated that he believed the police were contacting the families of the victims before disclosing any information. So he could not comment further at this time.

“My thoughts are with the injured, as well as the family and loved ones of those who have lost their lives,” he said.

Home Secretary Suella Braverman told broadcasters, “My thoughts are first and foremost with all those involved, their friends, their families, and their communities.”

She advised anyone with information to allow police “time and space” to investigate.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer offered his “thoughts to all those affected and the emergency services who are responding.”

On Twitter, French President Emmanuel Macron also conveyed his condolences for the victims.

According to witnesses on Bentinck Road, the suspect struggled as he was dragged out of a white van by officers.

Demi Ojolow, a student who resides nearby, reported, “I just saw the police yelling at him to exit the vehicle and get on the ground.

“They dragged him out of the vehicle, and he fell to the ground.” He was hauled away and that was that.”

In a statement, the University of Nottingham said, “It is with great sorrow that we confirm the sudden and unexpected death of two of our students as a result of a significant incident that occurred overnight in Nottingham’s city center.

“We are shocked and devastated by the news, and our thoughts are with those affected, their families, and their friends.”

It increased the availability of support and wellness services.

The school’s graduation ceremony scheduled for Tuesday evening has been canceled.

The university’s student union stated in a statement that it was “devastated and shocked” by the attacks.

It stated, “We stand in solidarity with all of our students and the city as a whole, and our thoughts are with the families and friends of those injured, as well as those directly and indirectly affected by the unfolding of these horrific events.”

The neighboring Nottingham Trent University has reached out to its students to provide reassurance.

It stated that its sites “remain open and fully staffed” for anyone in need of assistance and implored any affected residents to “discuss any concerns with our team and seek refuge with friends

Paul Williams, the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham, stated before a vigil, “This city is in shock.”

But what the people of Nottingham do is band together; friendship is the city’s beating heart,” he said.
