The ceremony took place at the Sussexes’ private estate in California. It is understood Harry and Meghan will not deny both of their children the opportunity to use their prince and princess titles.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s daughter Princess Lilibet Diana have been christened, a spokesperson has said.
The Sussexes issued the following statement: “I can affirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on March 3 by the Rev. John Taylor, the Archbishop of Los Angeles.”
This is the first time Lilibet, Lili for short, has been publicly referred to as Princess.
When her ancestor, King Charles, ascended to the throne, she became a princess.
Lili and Archie will use their names as princess and prince in formal settings, but not on a daily basis.
Having remained as “master” and “miss” on the Buckingham Palace website. The Palace has verified the site’s line of succession list will now be updated to reflect the change.
The Sussexes may have written to the Monarch about calling their baby Princess Lili.
Harry and Meghan want to give their children the choice of keeping or losing their titles.
The ceremony was held in private at the Sussexes’ residence in Montecito, California.
“Lili created our household”
The couple’s Christmas card from 2021 contained the first public image of Lili.
The photograph, taken by Alexi Lubomirski, depicted Harry embracing their son Archie while Meghan held Lilibet in the air.
The card’s initial line read: “Lilibet, our daughter, was born in 2021. Lili created a family for us, and Archie created a “Mother” and “Papa” for us.
Lili then celebrated her first birthday at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor in June 2022, the same property the couple has been requested to “vacate,” according to a spokesperson.
The request to depart Frogmore Cottage followed the publication of Harry’s autobiography Spare, in which he was critical of his family, and was viewed as a major rebuke by Charles to his son, who relocated to the United States in 2020.
The couple also complained about their alleged treatment in a Netflix series.
Despite this, a spokesperson for the duo told The Times that they have been invited to attend the King’s Coronation in May.
They have reportedly not yet made a decision, as the event occurs on son Archie’s 4th birthday.
