On the banks of the River Tay, Kenmore is home to approximately 100 people. Locals are concerned that the area is becoming “hoarded by the elite” because the Arizona-based Investors Discovery Land Company has acquired a significant amount of real estate in the area.

There are concerns that a peaceful village in Perthshire is becoming a “ghost town” because American billionaires are moving in to create a “playground” for the wealthy.

About 100 people reside in Kenmore, which is situated on the enchanting River Tay.

The adjacent 1842-built Taymouth Castle and vast tracts of land have been acquired by an Arizona-based company that boasts of transforming the area into a luxurious resort for the ultra-wealthy.

Discovery Land Company (DLC), which claims to be one of the most exclusive residential real estate development firms in the world, has also acquired and closed the local hotel and post office.

Concerns are growing that the area is becoming “hoarded by the elite” as the foreign business empire has purchased several homes.

According to reports, the clientele of DLC includes billionaires, CEOs, presidents, and personalities.

According to a recent sales brochure from the U.S. company, the development will consist of “208 residential units and club suites” and is only “30 minutes by helicopter” from Scotland’s main cities.

In 2011, Perth and Kinross Council authorized the restoration project for the castle.

Locals have initiated a petition to “fight back” after claiming their environment is being suffocated.

Rob Jamieson, a campaigner, told, “In their other developments, their homes range from $3 million to $50 million.” They will attempt to end this situation. They do not want the unwashed to pass by their luxurious residences.

None of us will ever set foot in it unless we want to pluck our eyebrows. It has everything a wealthy person could ever desire, but they never have to leave the estate. They will not be visiting the local teahouse for tea and scones.

It is abhorrent to those of us who reside nearby.

A spokesperson did not refute rumors that the area will be transformed into a gated community.

According to the company’s website, the golf course and amenities will be “reserved” for proprietors.

Local protest group member Ingrid Sheilds stated, “People have questions about the plans.”

“They own the Kenmore hotel and virtually all of these cottages.” The majority of the time, this place is a deserted town. There is nobody present.

Restaurants and even public restrooms are closed. The former village of Kenmore has been completely transformed.

DLC officials reported that “hundreds” of people have already been hired, and they anticipate that this trend will “continue for years to come.”

The residence of Peter Ely overlooks the exclusive resort and largely supports what it will ultimately become.

The chairperson of the local community council stated, “The castle has been in disrepair for forty years.” Kenmore is being transformed back into a sustainable village.

“Over the past two decades, the number of residents has decreased by 20%.” Since these men took over and purchased all the unused vacation lodges, [the] community has benefited to the point where the village is once again beginning to expand.

It will not be an exclusive neighborhood. I believe they will utilize municipal facilities.”

The American investors asserted that they were “working diligently to reopen the village store and hotel.”

When the endeavor will be completed is unknown.
