Four children were transported to the hospital, and it is believed that a 14-year-old boy sustained life-threatening injuries.

Other students were taken to a training facility for emergency services in Wallasey, where 13 received treatment for minor injuries.

Calday Grange all-boys grammar school and West Kirby all-girls grammar school both confirmed that one of their buses was involved in the 8 a.m. incident.

According to the police, other buses traveling in convoy with the crashed bus contained minors.

All affected parties will also receive trauma support, and family liaison officers are assisting the family members.

The M53 between junctions 4 and 5 remained closed in both directions on Friday night, but authorities have not yet commented on the likely cause of the accident.

Mark Thomas from Merseyside Fire and Rescue reported that firefighters assisted passengers off the bus and stabilized the vehicle.

Additionally, emergency services declared a significant incident due to the possibility of multiple severe injuries.

Joanne Clague, director for the North West Ambulance Service, stated, “We sent a substantial number of ambulances, senior clinicians, and our hazardous area response teams. A doctor specializing in critical care was also dispatched to the scene.”

According to Calday Grange’s website, the W3 bus route departs from the Chester suburb of Bache, stops in Little Sutton, and then connects with the M53 en route to West Kirby.

The bus involved in the accident is owned by Carvers Coaches of Ellesmere Port.
