A physician who admitted to killing a mother of three during a botched operation was sentenced to three years in prison.
Dr. Isyaka Mamman pleaded guilty to manslaughter by gross negligence in connection with the 2018 death of 48-year-old Shahida Parveen at the Royal Oldham Hospital.
The 85-year-old, who was previously suspended for misrepresenting his age, used the incorrect needle and inserted it in the incorrect location, piercing Mrs. Perveen’s heart sac.
Mrs. Justice Yip stated in her sentencing remarks at Manchester Crown Court that the death was Mamman’s primary responsibility, but that the hospital trust should have done more after he lied about his age and botched two similar procedures.
