The student was last seen in the town center of Galashiels at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, and her disappearance was reported that evening. Monday night, she was located “safe and sound” at a residence in the town.
Following the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl in the Scottish Borders, a man has been detained.
Sunday evening’s missing student was last spotted in Galashiels’ town centre at 5.45 p.m.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Border Search and Rescue Unit, volunteers, and Police Scotland specialty teams. Including investigators, divers, and air support, assisted.
Monday night, the girl was located “safe and well” at a residence in the city.
In connection with the event, a 53-year-old male has been arrested.
The police stated that investigations into the incident are “ongoing.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated: “A 53-year-old male was detained in connection with the disappearance of a Galashiels girl, age 11, who was reported missing on Sunday, February 5, 2023.
“Monday, February 6th, at approximately 9.30 p.m., the girl was located in the Galashiels region.
“Investigations into the events continue.”
