It is the first time the Royal Family has mentioned Harry in public since 2022, and the first for him since 2021, when they wished him a happy birthday.

The Royal Family has wished the Duke of Sussex a happy 40th birthday, breaking the two-year public silence.

A post on X and Instagram stated, “Wishing the Duke of Sussex a pleased 40th birthday today!”

The post also included a photo of a smiling Harry and an emoji of a birthday cake.

It is the first public message the Royal Family has sent Harry since wishing him a happy birthday in 2021.

It’s also the first X (Twitter) tweet to mention him since 2022 (shown below) when he was one of the young royals who took part in a walkabout in Windsor following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.

The duke, who resides in California after leaving the functioning royal, has troubled connections with his father and is currently separated from his brother, the Prince of Wales.

When the King’s cancer diagnosis was confirmed in February, Harry made a transatlantic dash to see him, but his visit with his father lasted only 45 minutes.

The duke said: “I was anxious about 30, but I’m excited about 40,” and highlighted how fatherhood had given him a newfound sense of purpose to make “this world a better place.

This year, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, embarked on two quasi-royal visits to Colombia and Nigeria and relaunched their Archewell website as Sussex.com, with the headline The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

He also got a high-profile sporting award for his efforts at the Invictus Games for injured service members, and he sued the Home Office and tabloid tabloids for removing his protection while in the UK.

Meghan, meanwhile, began a new enterprise with the soft launch of her brand, American Riviera Orchard, sending limited edition strawberry jam to her friends. However, the company has suffered delays in its trademarking efforts.
