Friday’s collision on the A697 in the Scottish Borders resulted in fatal injuries to a man and woman, ages 79 and 85.
In the Scottish Borders, an elderly man and woman were killed in a head-on collision that also injured another person.
The 79-year-old male driver and the 85-year-old female passenger were involved in a collision with a blue Kia Sportage on the A697 between Carfraemill and Greenlaw, close to the town of Lauder.
They were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred on Friday at 4.30 p.m.
Police Scotland stated that the female driver of the Kia Sportage was transported to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.
The road was closed for seven hours following the accident.
The police have initiated an investigation and are requesting that any drivers who witnessed the collision or who have information or dashcam footage contact them.
Sergeant of Road Policing Kosmas Papakyriakou stated, “Our thoughts continue to be with the families and friends of those involved in this incident.”

Woman struck by a truck on Kent’s A2
A woman was killed early Saturday morning on the A2 in Kent after being struck by a tractor-trailer.
It is believed that the victim was traveling in a grey BMW that stopped on the coast-bound carriageway.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on the London-bound carriageway near Dartford Heath.
The white DAF truck’s driver stopped following the collision.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit of the Kent Police Department has launched an investigation into the road closure.
Since then, the coastbound carriageway has reopened.
