- Comedy Pet Photography Awards Celebrate Pets’ Vital Roles and Promote Animal Welfare
- Rescued Kitten’s Playful Pose Wins Top Prize in the Awards
- Competition Aims to Raise Awareness of Animal Welfare and Highlight Pets’ Contributions to Our Lives
Two professional photographers devised the Comedy Pet Photography Awards to honor the vital roles pets play in their owners’ lives and to promote animal welfare.
The Comedy Pet Photography Awards winner is a photo of a rescued kitten threatening to attack a sibling.
The photograph of the two black-and-white cats Max and Alex was captured by wildlife photographer Michel Zoghzoghi.
“Max and Alex are a dangerously adorable duo. I had more joy and pleasant surprises photographing these two characters than on my most daring wildlife photography excursions,” he said.
Other winners include Darya Zelentsova, a native of Kyiv, Ukraine, who captured Boudicca the ferret on her first outdoor stroll.
An unintentional photo of a dog leaping in a New York park won the People’s Choice Award.
British amateur street photographer Chris Porsz took Barking.
Professional photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam devised the competition.
The pair stated that they intend to raise awareness of animal welfare issues and “celebrate the incredible and incredibly valuable contribution that pets can and do make to our lives.”
Tom stated, “This competition is still in its infancy, but within a few short years we have received some of the most uplifting, life-affirming, and hilarious images of pets in the world.”
“We could not be happier to share these with you. Pets have been crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this competition aims to make them giggle.
