The husband and friends of Amor Armitage are attempting to raise funds to bring her back to the United Kingdom. Where she can complete her lengthy and painful recuperation.
A British yoga instructor who was severely hurt by a boat propeller while snorkeling in Mexico describes her survival as a “miracle.”
Amor Armitage, 37, was struck while snorkeling and free-diving with her husband Chase. And others on the Caribbean island of Cozumel on 17 December.
She left the group in the water at some time to return to the boat. But when she climbed the staircase, music was playing and the skipper did not see her.
She stated, “I immediately realize the boat has begun to move, and I am speechless.
As dread froze me, I was unable of speaking.
Everything seems to slow down as the propeller of the boat strikes my abdomen, genitalia, and legs.
My body is weighed down, and I can see the boat moving away from me.

She described her leg as “broken,” her body as “mutilated,” and her suffering as “extraterrestrial.” Yet she still managed to pull herself up into the boat.
Then her stuntman husband Chase came, and she stated that it was his words. And love that kept her alive during the ambulance ride to the hospital.
She continued, “He did his hardest to keep me with him. And I firmly believe that if not for my guardian angel Chase, I would not be here today.”
In addition to her husband, though, Ms. Armitage may also have a blood clot to thank. According to her, physicians told her that a two-inch blood clot in her artery spared her from bleeding to death.
Since her admission to the hospital, Ms. Armitage has undergone three major operations. And a lot of blood transfusions, and she will remain there for the foreseeable future.
Her primary injuries were to her belly and legs; she described a portion of her inner thigh as “totally scrambled”. And her quadriceps, tendons, and tibia as “sliced.”
I am steady yet deemed high risk.
“I have daily discomfort, and my left leg continues to be immobile and unresponsive.
“My toes have become slightly more sensitive, which makes me delighted,” she remarked.
The couple’s vacation was not covered by insurance. So family and friends are raising funds for Ms. Armitage’s return to the United Kingdom and her recovery.
It is estimated that she will be unable to work for at least six months. And her husband will need to take time off to assist in her recovery.
She stated that the hospital expenditures are “vast… and continue to climb daily.”
Mr. Armitage is selling his Porsche 981 Spyder, and a Just Giving page has raised more than £50,000 to date.
