At the location of an explosion on an industrial estate in Treforest, south Wales, a body has been discovered.

The individual was found following a survey of the area conducted by South Wales Police in the aftermath of the fire on Wednesday evening.

Law enforcement officials are assisting the bereaved family as no formally identified individual has been located.

Detective Superintendent Richard Jones stated that the investigation into the cause of the detonation and fire would now commence.

The emergency services continue to respond to the incident at Severn Road on the Rhondda Cynon Taf estate.

Following the explosion at approximately 19:00 GMT on Wednesday, a significant incident was declared for several hours, and at least one structure was destroyed.

According to the fire department, a two-story structure was in imminent danger of collapsing. Seven compressors and an incident command unit were at the location.

Rizla House, a 60,000-square-foot (5,574-square-meter) warehouse, was the site of the incident.

It contains thirteen commercial establishments, such as a fitness center, a towel manufacturing facility, a cuisine laboratory, and a telecommunications service provider.

“Our thoughts are with the family of the missing person,” stated Detective Superintendent Jones.

“Upon achieving fire suppression, our attention will transition to the investigative stage to ascertain the cause of the explosion and subsequent conflagration.”

While authorities progressively reopen roads, certain businesses and roadways in the region will continue to experience impacts.

I want to thank the local businesses and residents for their understanding and forbearance as we investigate this incident.
