Aidan Roche, a 29-year-old chemical engineer from Middlesbrough, went missing in Switzerland three months ago while on a two-week solo camping trip. His family has confirmed that his body has been found. Over £30,000 was raised to support the search for the hiker.
Aidan Roche disappeared on June 22 while hiking the Eiger Trail in Grindelwald, Bernese Alps. He was expected to return home within days.
According to his family, Mr. Roche’s body was discovered near the trail where he was walking. His brother, Connor Roche, expressed their gratitude to everyone who helped during this difficult time.
“We received word last week that the Swiss police had located Aidan walking along a trail,” Connor Roche said. The news has hit us all hard, despite the fact that we have been anticipating this outcome for months.
“On behalf of my entire family, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us throughout this ordeal. The outpouring of support from so many people has helped us endure the uncertainty and anguish, and it demonstrates how much Aidan was loved.”
“We are profoundly grateful for all the messages of support, the online sharing of Aidan’s photos and posters, and the donations that aided in locating him. All of this contributed to bringing him back home to us. Thank you immensely.”
