On 15 June of that year, the 3,300-pound bomb inflicted tremendous damage and more than 200 injuries, but no fatalities.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Meeks, head of investigations at CTPNW, stated, “Although thankfully no one was killed in the 1996 Manchester bombing by the IRA, hundreds of people were left with injuries, many of which were life-changing, and countless others across Greater Manchester and the North West were impacted by the events of that day.
We have been reinvestigating for several years, with a team of devoted detectives re-examining the original case files and exploring fresh lines of inquiry, to hold those responsible for the attack accountable and bring them to justice.
Additionally, the police urged anyone affected by the bombing who has not been informed to visit the Major Incident Portal at mipp.police.UK/operation/06GMP20S33-PO1.
