The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate has taken 1,200 witness statements in connection with hundreds of deaths caused by opioid addiction at Gosport War Memorial Hospital.
Police have identified 24 suspects as they probe the deaths of hundreds of hospital patients in Hampshire.
The independent police inquiry into the deaths at Gosport War Memorial Hospital began after a 2018 investigation revealed that hundreds of patients’ lives had been cut short due to the usage of opioids.
The Gosport Independent Panel study determined that the systematic procedure reduced the lives of almost 450 people until the year 2000.

It further stated that at least 200 more people were expected to be afflicted similarly.
The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, which is leading Operation Magenta, announced Thursday that it has received 1,200 witness statements and is analyzing the records of over 750 patients.
According to the force, 24 suspects are now being interrogated. Of them, 21 are accused of gross negligence manslaughter, and three are being interrogated for alleged violations under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
