The Ukrainian defence ministry said the hotel conducted a summer session for kids an hour before the missile impacted.

The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that its forces had struck a location where “foreign mercenaries” were stationed.

Children are captured on film congregating near a smoldering hotel duck as a missile flies overhead.

After the earthquake strikes the hotel, their screams and cries can be heard.

Mykhailo Podolyak, counsel to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, shared the video, stating that it encapsulated Putin’s Russia in a single clip.

The United Nations reported that its staff and NGOs frequently stayed at the hotel.

Denise Brown, the humanitarian coordinator for Ukraine, stated, “I am appalled by the news that a hotel in Zaporizhzhia that is frequently used by United Nations personnel and NGOs assisting war-affected civilians was recently struck by a Russian airstrike. It is completely unacceptable.

“I’ve remained at this hotel every time I’ve visited Zaporizhia. It serves as the base for my team’s frequent trips to the metropolis.

It was the UN base during the Mariupol Azovstal civilian evacuation in May 2018.

“The number of indiscriminate attacks against civilian infrastructure, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries, has reached unfathomable proportions – these attacks violate international humanitarian law.”

On Wednesday, a Russian missile attack also struck Zaporizhzhia, killing two young women and a man and wounding nine others.

Ukraine initiates security guarantee consultations with the United Kingdom

It comes as Ukraine has begun consultations with the United Kingdom to secure security guarantees.

“Our goal is to have the first such agreements in place by the end of the year,” said Andriy Yermak, chief of staff to the Ukrainian president.

“Our consultations with Great Britain have begun,” he added.

Mr. Zelenskyy has demanded stronger guarantees from Western friends, particularly the US and other NATO allies.
