A gunman opened fire at a school in central Russia, killing at least thirteen people and wounding at least twenty-one, according to Russian officials.
There are seven youngsters among the victims at the approximately 1,000-student school in Izhevsk.
The shooter committed suicide on the spot. He was a former student of the institution.
Videos posted by Russian media outlets appear to show fear inside the building where the shooting occurred.
Some film depicts blood on a classroom floor and a bullet hole in a window, with students hiding beneath their desks.
According to Russian officials, seven children and six adults, including two security guards and two teachers, were slain. Staff and students were evacuated from school buildings.
A local representative stated that the attacker, identified as Artem Kazantsev, was equipped with two firearms.
A video shared online by the inquiry committee depicts the dead gunman wearing a T-shirt with a Nazi emblem and a balaclava. Investigators are searching for his residence.
A time of mourning until September 29 has been declared by the regional leader. The spokeswoman for Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he “truly mourns” the attack.
The school is located in the heart of Izhevsk, a city with around 650,000 inhabitants, near the central government buildings.
