An investigation has been initiated after a Royal Navy sailor was discovered deceased in a Swedish residence.
According to the prosecutor, four individuals, including a 20-year-old British man, were arrested but have since been released.
Among those arrested were also two Swedish males and one Swedish woman.
A spokesperson for the Royal Navy stated, “We are aware of an incident in Stockholm that resulted in the demise of a service member.
“We continue to assist local authorities with their investigations, and it would be improper to comment further at this time.
Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends.
The sailor’s relatives have been notified.
The Royal Navy was defending the Swedish coastline during the Aurora simulated invasion exercise. The military exercise was conducted from April 17 to May 11.
In addition to the United Kingdom and Sweden, forces from France, Germany, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, and Lithuania participated in the exercise commanded by HMS Albion.
Exercise Aurora was “Sweden’s largest national defense exercise in over a quarter century.”
