The PTI leadership firmly condemned the “state terrorism” attack on Imran Khan’s residence, which they described as “part of a London plan to eliminate him.”
On Saturday, a big police contingent searched Mr. Khan’s Zaman Park home before his Islamabad magistrate appearance.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry stated at a press conference held at the party’s office that the operation was part of the PML-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz’s plan to arrest Mr. Khan.
“A woman who has never even run for councilor is setting the agenda for the government,” he said, referring to Ms. Sharif’s Friday press conference in which she demanded that Mr. Khan be detained.
He claimed that the operation violated court orders and created a climate of anarchy across the nation. As PTI members pressured the leadership to call for nationwide protests.
PTI members were told to prepare for the final clash and wait for Mr. Khan’s orders before protesting. Mr. Chaudhry added that party leaders were on their way to Islamabad with Mr. Khan. But turned back upon hearing of the “cowardly attack.”
He added that the government’s only goal was to arrest the PTI leader despite the nation’s unprecedented inflation.
Mr. Chaudhry said police scaled the residence’s walls and tortured residents while excavators demolished the entryway. He stated that the operation was in direct violation of the Lahore High Court’s orders because the police did not inform Imran Kishwar, the court’s designated point of contact, before the investigation.
“The Security DIG of the Punjab advocate general acknowledged and said he would notify the IG of Police. Nevertheless, the operation was carried out, he lamented.
Friday, the Lahore High Court granted the Punjab police chief’s request to search Mr. Khan’s Zaman Park residence as part of an investigation into attacks on police teams when they went to implement arrest warrants issued by an Islamabad court for the PTI leader.
Lacking a search warrant
Dr. Uzma Khanum, Mr. Khan’s sister, claimed in a video that the cops acted without warrants.
Dr. Khanum stated that the policemen harassed women and tortured servants and that they “appeared bloodthirsty” as they brutally beat unarmed people in the home.
She claimed that the police abducted her husband and several servants as well.
PTI President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi visited Zaman Park after the attack, calling it “brutal and violent.”
Mr. Elahi called Ms. Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah bigots and said the police didn’t honor women’s home sanctity.
He condemned the use of shelling and rubber bullets against laborers and employees.
