On Thursday, Mari, 29, was shopping at the Assago shopping center near Milan with his wife and son when a guy stabbed six people with a knife taken from the shelves.

He was stabbed and rushed to the hospital, where he is believed to be conscious, in a non-life-threatening condition, and awaiting surgery to repair muscle damage to his back.

He is now on loan at Serie A club Monza, who have requested that their upcoming match against Bologna be postponed out of “shock” at the news.

The 46-year-old suspect, who was suspected to have mental health issues, was arrested.

Local media said that ex-Inter Milan star Massimo Tarantino stopped and disarmed the knifeman.

The 51-year-old, who also played for Napoli and Bologna, stated that he witnessed the suspect “scream, scream, and that was it.”

Since 2007, Tarantino has managed teams. He told reporters at the scene, “I was a hero? I didn’t do anything.”

The heart of Mari’s father nearly stopped.

Pablo, better known as Mari’s father, spoke to the Spanish radio station Cadena Cope about the moment he found his son was hurt.

“I was ignorant of everything. I wasn’t watching television or doing anything else, but family members kept calling… “My heart almost stopped,” he said.

After contacting his daughter-in-law, who observed the attack with his grandson, he continued, “It was nothing more than a scare… She witnessed someone’s death in front of her.”

Adriano Galliani, Monza’s chief executive, was quoted by Sky Sports Italy as saying about Pablo Mari’s condition, “Pablo Mari had a very severe wound on his back, which fortunately did not affect essential organs such as his lungs or others.

His life is not in jeopardy, and he should recover rapidly.

The player was saved by his height.

According to him, Mari was hit in the face before being stabbed in the back, but his 6ft 4in height “saved” him.

Mari is recuperating at the Niguarda hospital and informed Galliani that he hopes to resume training on Monday.

Arsenal FC stated, “We are all horrified to hear the terrible news about the stabbing in Italy, which has sent several people to the hospital, including our loaned center-back Pablo Mari.

We’ve been in contact with Pablo’s agent, who informed us that he is in the hospital but is not gravely injured.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Pablo and the other victims of this tragic event.

Investigators have ruled out terrorism and are currently detaining the suspect.
