Opposition parties in Nigeria have demanded that the upcoming presidential election be annulled, calling it a farce.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party claimed that results had been manipulated, rendering the poll irreparably flawed.
Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the ruling party, is currently in the lead. With just over 44% of the vote, according to the most recent official results.
The electoral commission has yet to comment on the opposition’s demand.
“I demand that this farce of an election be annulled, and we call on Inec [the Independent National Electoral Commission] to conduct new elections within the timeframe specified by the electoral act,” said Julius Abure, chairman of the Labour Party.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has also backed Labour and the main opposition PDP in their plea for new elections.
