- Hopkins falsely mocks Garraway
- Criticism for insensitive comments
- History of controversial statements
With hundreds of thousands of followers on social media and a right-leaning political stance, the former Apprentice contestant shared a video of herself chuckling while falsely claiming that a new documentary and book about Derek Draper are being published.
Controversial commentator Katie Hopkins has faced criticism for her disdain of ITV presenter Kate Garraway following Derek Draper’s demise.
According to reports, Draper was one of the longest-suffering COVID patients in the United Kingdom, having been hospitalized for 13 months after contracting the virus in March 2020. He passed away earlier this month.
Hopkins, who has one million subscribers on the website X, erroneously claimed in a video that ITV was scheduled to broadcast a documentary titled “Life after Derek,” with Garraway publishing a book in conjunction with it.
While laughing and sipping a glass of red wine, the former Apprentice contestant added, “He’s only been dead a week.” Neither of these statements is true.
“You are all required to watch a documentary on television at 8.30 tonight. Yes, it’s a Kate Garraway documentary; therefore, I must conclude on time for you tonight,” she wrote in a Saturday post.
“Kate Garraway: Life After Derek” is the title.
She chuckled before proceeding: “Also, she is publishing a book in conjunction with the documentary… “He has been deceased for less than a week.”
In allusion to the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, she included the statement “allegedly sponsored by Fizzer” alongside the video, which has been “viewed” more than four million times, as determined by X’s scrutiny of the data.
Draper contracted the disease well in advance of the availability of the vaccine.
Broadcaster Lorraine King referred to Hopkins as a “sick person” in response to the video, whereas comedian Dom Joly characterized her as having “zero empathy” and being a “complete scoundrel.”
“Unlock your financial potential with free Webull shares in the UK.”
Several social media users disapproved of the video, with specific individuals labeling her remarks “horrendous.”
Hopkins left Twitter (previously X) permanently in 2020 for violating its “abuse and harmful contact” regulations. However, she was granted a reestablishment last year.
She was fired from LBC as a host after discussing the Manchester Arena explosion.
In addition to comparing migrants to vermin, she has threatened to use gunships to prevent them from traversing borders.
