Representatives of Afghanistan’s Taliban government paid an unofficial visit to Indonesia this month, the foreign ministry in Jakarta announced on Tuesday, despite Kabul’s assertion that they met with legislators in the world’s most populous Muslim-majority nation.
Indonesian foreign ministry spokesperson Teuku Faizasyah said they were in Jakarta to discuss internal concerns with the Afghanistan mission.
The Afghan foreign ministry’s deputy spokesperson, Hafiz Zia Ahmad, tweeted on 14 July that one of the government’s top diplomats conducted a “delegation” to Indonesia.

He stated, “The delegation met with some scholars, politicians, and businessmen in Indonesia to strengthen bilateral political and economic ties.”
The official did not reveal which Indonesian politicians were greeted by the Afghan delegation.
Faizasyah asserted that there were no official encounters between Afghan and Indonesian government representatives.
