“The chief spokesman for the Israel Defence Forces states that its soldiers are “prepared for any scenario,” while the United Nations warns that airstrikes are approaching Gaza Strip hospitals.
The Israeli military is advancing further into the Gaza Strip as its chief military spokesman issues a warning that hostilities “will escalate” in the region.
As Israel maintains its demand for the liberation of 239 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, the militant organisation on October 7 purports to have presented three of the women in a video released on Monday.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, referred to the video as “cruel psychological propaganda” and expressed his nation’s solidarity with the women.
Meanwhile, Israel continues to bombard the territory; residents of Gaza City’s eastern region reported dozens of airstrikes on Monday.
“Your path to wealth begins here – don’t wait, get your free Webull shares.”
Additionally, some Gazans reported hearing tanks roll in, which Hamas claimed had retreated towards the boundary. Furthermore, another group reported that a road along the western coast had been struck by air and sea forces.
As Israel advanced, its forces encircled northern regions of Gaza City and extended to both sides of the city, in what Mr. Netanyahu termed the “second stage” of the conflict.
The Islamic Jihad militant organisation, which is collaborating with Hamas, issued the following statement: “Our duty today is to fight and fight” in spite of the bombardment.
Preparation and Warnings
Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the primary military spokesperson for Israel, stated that Israel Defence Forces (IDF) personnel are “prepared for any scenario” and are stationed along the northern border.
Mr. Hagari added that dozens of militants were killed overnight, but he declined to corroborate the whereabouts of the ground forces following the appearance of tanks advancing along a major road in Gaza on surveillance footage.
Mr. Hagari stated later on Monday that four Hamas officials had been slain by Israeli forces within the “last few hours.”
He added that the fighters “destroyed terror infrastructure,” including anti-tank positions. In reaction to Lebanese border firing, the IDF said its troops are targeting the “origin of the shooting”.
In additional significant developments:
- A German-Israeli woman taken by Hamas at a music event has been found dead, according to Israel’s foreign ministry.
- A 25-year-old man is in critical condition after being stabbed in Jerusalem
- Anti-Israel protesters stormed a runway in Russia, allegedly chanting antisemitic slogans and searching for passengers on a Tel Aviv-bound flight
- British nationals stranded in Gaza “could” be saved
According to Mr. Hagari, Israel’s “operations and activities will continue and intensify in tandem with the progression of the war.”
“This is an expanded ground operation into the strip,” according to him. “Ground forces, tanks, infantry forces, armoured corp forces are moving towards the terrorists.”
According to Mr. Hagari, Israel launched an aerial assault against “twenty terrorists” and that combat also broke out within the Gaza Strip, with “direct contact between the ground forces and the terrorists.”
Concerns Over Airstrikes Near Hospitals
Medical staff and the United Nations have issued warnings that airstrikes in Gaza are approaching hospitals. Where tens of thousands have sought refuge and thousands have been injured.
Approximately 117,000 displaced people, according to UN statistics, are residing in hospitals with thousands of patients and staff.
Negotiations to release Hamas’ 239 inmates since its October 7 attack in Israel have stalled, according to NBC News.
According to a former US official with information regarding the negotiations cited in the report, the militant organisation had demanded that Israel permit petroleum shipments into Gaza.
Challenging Roadblock
Tank footage depicts a tank “obstructing the key escape road.”
Israeli military instructed Palestinians to avoid its ground operation by using the main north-south road, which was probably shut.
Mr. Hagari said Israel has “expanded” army movements but did not name them.
A vehicle is seen in the video approaching a barrier across the road prior to making a U-turn. As the tank retreats, an explosion ignites the vehicle and causes it to appear to be emitting flames.
The Gaza health ministry subsequently reported three fatalities; as of now, it has tallied the deaths of 8,306 Palestinians.
The Israeli government reports that since Hamas’s initial assault, over 1,400 people have lost their lives on the Israeli side.
A piercing in Jerusalem
As tensions in Gaza escalate, an Israeli volunteer emergency agency claimed a 25-year-old male was stabbed in Jerusalem on Monday.
In Jerusalem, Cordelia Lynch reported a “significant gathering” and “number of security forces.”
She learns that the deceased Palestinian stabbed the injured border patrol officer from the border department.
A spokesperson for Ihud Hatzala stated that first aid was administered to the injured individual by volunteers.
The spokesperson further stated: “When we arrived at the scene we encountered a stab wound in his upper body, we gave him first medical aid at the scene and then he was taken in a police ambulance to the Hadassah Hera Tesov Hospital, where his condition at this stage is determined to be critical.”
