Iran protests US-British attacks on Yemen as a sovereignty violation

In an effort to prevent a worsening of the crisis in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia urges restraint, while Russia demands an immediate convening of the United Nations Security Council.

Iran has denounced America’s and the United Kingdom’s military interventions in Yemen as “evident infringements upon the nation’s sovereignty.

Britain and the United States have initiated aerial and maritime assaults against military installations associated with Houthi rebels in Yemen as a retaliatory measure against the movement’s assaults on vessels in the Red Sea that provide assistance to Gaza.

Consequences of weeks of disruptive assaults on international shipping by rebel forces supported by Iran. This event is considered a dramatic regional escalation of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

“We strongly condemn the military attacks conducted this morning on multiple cities in Yemen by the United States and the United Kingdom,” a spokesperson for the Iranian foreign ministry, Nasser Kanaani, said in a statement obtained by Nournews.

It flagrantly violates Yemen’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international rights, laws, and regulations.

He further stated that these assaults will merely exacerbate the region’s instability and lack of security.

A spokesman for the Houthis in Yemen stated on Friday that the attack had no justification.

Regional Reactions to Crisis

Mohammed Abdulsalam added in an X post that the Iran-backed group will continue to target vessels en route to Israel.

Russia stated that it had requested an emergency United Nations Security Council meeting.

Saudi Arabia issued an appeal for restraint in an effort to prevent the Middle Eastern crisis from escalating.

“Great concern” is expressed by the country’s foreign ministry regarding the situation. It has been closely monitoring the situation in recent months alongside Yemen’s Houthis in peace negotiations.

It further stated that the kingdom places significant emphasis on the maintenance of security and stability in the Red Sea region, citing international obligations regarding freedom of navigation within its boundaries.

Hezbollah, a formidable armed organization in Lebanon, condemned the assaults as well.

The Iranian allies issued the following statement: “The United States’ aggression once more substantiates the notion that it is a complete accomplice in the atrocities and massacres perpetrated by the Zionist adversary in Gaza and the surrounding area.”

An Iraqi prime minister’s adviser told INA that the West is escalating the Israel-Hamas confrontation.

Fadi al-Shammari said the West was raising tensions by condemning the strikes with Iran, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.
