In India, over thirty individuals are trapped due to the collapse of a road tunnel under construction.

A landslip in the tourist-friendly northern Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, India, led to the collapse of the culvert on Sunday.

Officials confirm that all individuals trapped were involved in tunnel work. They specify that oxygen is being pumped into the collapsed section via a conduit to assist workers in breathing. Food is also being delivered to the stranded employees.

Manohar Tamta, a state relief official from Uttarakhand, stated that some time would be required to extract them.

However, labourers have reportedly transmitted signals indicating their safety, according to a state government official cited by the Press Trust of India news agency.

Police estimate that the collapsed section of the tunnel is approximately 200 metres (500 feet) from the entrance.

Also approximately 160 rescuers from state and federal disaster relief agencies are reaching the workers using excavators and excavation equipment.

The Hindu temple-adorned state of Uttarakhand attracts a tremendous number of pilgrims and visitors annually.

Over the years, it has grown substantially due to the construction of numerous roads and structures.
