Police say they are sifting through hours of film and inspecting the hands of the four students who were slain in Idaho last month, as the town’s dissatisfaction with the lack of an arrest rises.

The bodies of Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves, and Madison Mogen were discovered early on Sunday, November 13, in the rental property they shared.

The four individuals were all students at the University of Idaho in Moscow, located in northern Idaho.

The police have received numerous tips.

The FBI assists local law enforcement in sorting through them.

In a video statement released on Monday, Roger Lanier of Moscow Police stated that an “army of experts” was examining films posted by residents and business owners from all around the city.

Idaho police watch hundreds of hours of videos for clues.

“As you can imagine, there are countless hours of video, so it takes a considerable amount of time,” he remarked.

On the day of the murders, a white Hyundai Elantra was noticed in the vicinity of the residence.

Also on Monday, Fox News claimed that police had bagged the victims’ hands at the crime site to preserve potential forensic evidence, such as skin, hair, or DNA.

Thousands of amateur web detectives are interested in the case, and hundreds of Facebook groups and Reddit threads are devoted to it, but Captain Lanier warned against submitting online conjecture to the official tip line.

“Tracking down rumors and debunking rumors about specific individuals or specific incidents that may or may not have occurred is a significant distraction for investigators, and is frequently the consequence of social media proliferation,” he added in the video statement.

Some family members of the victims have criticized the investigation’s sluggish pace, lack of arrests, and failure to identify suspects.

Captain Lanier stated that law enforcement was “absolutely committed” to solving this crime.

Kaylee Goncalves’s father stated on Sunday that the victims’ “large open gouges” were the work of a “sadistic guy.”

Steven Goncalves stated that he had inquired with the coroner about the number of times the victims were stabbed.

He told Fox News on Sunday, “She adds, ‘Sir, I don’t think ‘stabs’ is the appropriate word; it was more like tears as if this was a strong weapon, not a stab”

The police have not yet determined the gender of the culprit or located the fixed-blade knife they believe was used in the crime.
