A fire caused by a short circuit killed 41 worshippers in a Cairo church in August 2022, leading to calls for improvements in the country’s infrastructure and the fire department’s response time.
In March 2021, a fire at a textile factory in the capital killed at least 20 people, while in 2020, two hospital fires claimed the lives of 14 people.
