Iceland’s three-party coalition government, which has been in office since November 2021, dissolved on Sunday owing to policy disagreements. The country’s prime minister, Bjarni Benediktsson, called new elections for November.
“There are very different views … on issues ranging from foreign policy to asylum seekers,” Benediktsson told reporters. He plans to meet with Iceland’s president to propose dissolving parliament and holding legislative elections in November.
