Andrew Tate and his sibling Tristan have been charged with human trafficking and participation in a criminal organization.
Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were charged with human trafficking in Romania.
The Tate brothers are accused of luring seven women into sexual exploitation through false promises of a relationship or marriage, a tactic dubbed the “loverboy method” by authorities.
Along with two Romanian female suspects accused of belonging to the alleged organized crime cell, they are charged.
All four allegedly established the organization in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania and other countries. Including the United States and the United Kingdom.
Andrew Tate is charged with raping one victim and human trafficking, while his brother Tristan is charged with inciting violence.
They refute the accusations.
A representative for the Tate brothers stated that the decision to prosecute them was “absolutely predictable.”
The spokesperson stated, “We welcome the opportunity to demonstrate their innocence and vindicate their reputation.”
“Tate’s legal team is prepared to fully cooperate with the appropriate authorities, presenting all evidence necessary to exonerate the brothers and expose any misinterpretations or false accusations.”
The Tate brothers were detained in a Bucharest residence last December and released under house arrest in March.
On Tuesday, prosecutors consented to try all four suspects, though no date has been set.
The preliminary chamber judge has 60 days to review the case files under Romanian law.
In a statement announcing the decision to proceed to trial, Romania’s Directorate for the Investigation of Organised Crime and Terrorism stated that authorities had seized Bitcoin wallets belonging to the Tate family containing an estimated $385,000 (£301,000) value of Bitcoin.
As part of their investigation, they also impounded 15 buildings and parcels of land, 15 luxury automobiles, 14 luxury watches, two ingots – typically precious metal blocks – and a medal.
British-American Andrew Tate, who has been primarily based in Romania since 2017, is an online influencer with millions of followers, especially among young males.
After appealing, the ex-kickboxer and his sibling were released to house arrest on December 29.
Tate has been banned from Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube for violating policies regarding “dangerous individuals” and hate speech.
He was banned from Twitter in 2017 but was permitted to return in November 2022.
