According to the police, the explosive exploded at an educational institution during an entrance exam. No one claimed responsibility for the attack immediately.
At least 19 people were murdered and scores more were injured in a suicide attack in Kabul, according to authorities.
Khalid Zadran, a police spokesman, stated that the assault occurred as pupils completed an admission exam inside an educational institution.
Fridays are often a day off for Afghanistan’s schools.
“Attacking civilian targets demonstrates the enemy’s lack of humanity and morality,” he stated.
Abdul Nafi Takor, a Taliban-appointed interior ministry spokesman, stated, “Our teams have been dispatched to the bomb scene to get more information.”
No one claimed responsibility for the attack immediately.
The official death toll is sure to increase, as a hospital source reported 23 fatalities. According to a Taliban source, among the deceased were female students.
Ghulm Sadiq reported being at home when he heard the explosion.
“My companions and I were able to remove approximately fifteen injured and nine deceased victims from the blast scene,” he claimed. “Other bodies were lying beneath classroom seats and tables”
Numerous residents are Hazara, an ethnic and predominantly Shia minority that has been the subject of prior attacks.
The bombing is the latest in a relentless stream of carnage since the Taliban seized power in August of last year, following the United States’ withdrawal.
Since then, girls are no longer permitted to attend high school.
Teenage kids were among the 24 individuals killed in an Islamic State-claimed attack on an education center in western Kabul in 2020.
