Biden’s former office had classified files.

The US Department of Justice is analyzing secret materials discovered in former Vice President Joe Biden’s office at a think group, according to the White House.

Mr. Biden’s legal team uncovered approximately ten files in a locked cupboard at the Penn Biden Center in Washington in November, according to his attorney.

The documents have been delivered to the National Archives.

Mr. Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, is under investigation for transporting secret documents to Florida after leaving office.

The FBI is involved in the investigation into classified documents discovered at the Penn Biden Center. And US Attorney General Merrick Garland has been asked to review the documents.

Mr. Biden’s attorney stated that they pertain to his tenure as vice president. However, it is unknown what the documents pertain to, their classification level, or why they were present.

A source with knowledge of the situation told CBS News that the batch did not contain nuclear secrets. And was contained in a folder with other unclassified documents.

Richard Sauber, special counsel to President Biden, told CBS on Monday that the files were discovered right before the midterm elections by Biden attorneys who were cleaning out the office.

From 2017 through 2020, Mr. Biden had an office at the think tank. Which is approximately one mile from the White House.

Mr. Sauber stated, “Since the discovery [of the documents], the president’s attorneys have collaborated with the [National] Archives. And the Department of Justice to guarantee that any Obama-Biden Administration documents are in the Archives’ control.”

His explanation did not explain why the discovery was revealed two months after it was made. Just before the midterm elections.

In September, President Biden appeared on CBS and was asked to comment on a photograph depicting the documents found from Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

How could anyone be so irresponsible? asked the president.

Mr. Trump responded on his social media site, Truth Social, on Monday, asking. “When is the FBI going to raid the many homes of Joe Biden, possibly including the White House?”

r. Trump is purportedly rejecting demands to return approximately 300 sensitive materials he took to Mar-a-Lago after leaving office. In this instance, the National Archives informed the authorities.

The Biden files were discovered soon before the Department of Justice announced it would appoint an independent attorney to determine whether or not to seek criminal charges against Mr. Trump about the materials seized at his golf club.

Congressman James Comer, the new Republican head of the House Oversight Committee. Stated on Monday that the justice department’s neutrality was called into question by the handling of the Biden papers.

He told reporters, “This is further evidence that the DoJ has a two-tier justice system based on how they handle Republicans and Democrats. And definitely how they treat the past president and the current president.”

According to CBS News, the Department of Justice has instructed John Lausch Jr. A US attorney in Chicago, to evaluate the relevant records.

Adam Kinzinger, a former Republican congressman, stated on CNN that the probe will hinge on who on the former vice president’s team handled the records. And whether their retention was intentional or accidental.

The Penn Biden Center and the National Archives did not immediately comment.
