A 22-year-old guy perished when his kayak collapsed in Thailand.

Saturday at 13:00 GMT, Odhran O’Neill from Lurgan, County Armagh was last seen in Khao Sok National Park.

David O’Dowd, the uncle of Mr. O’Neill, told that his nephew’s boat capsized within 4.5 meters (15 feet) of a jetty.

Last week, he took a vacation from his apprenticeship in Newry to travel with a friend to Thailand.

The pair had established a base outside Bangkok and intended to tour throughout the country for several months.

Mr. O’Dowd stated that the family was actively seeking to repatriate Mr. O’Neill’s body.

He estimated that it would take between seven and ten days.

Clann Eireann GAC claimed in a statement that after Mr. O’Neill’s kayak capsized, he said he would swim to shore but was never seen again.

It is suspected that his body was discovered early Sunday morning.

The club thanked everyone who helped with the hunt by sharing the social media post and expressing their sympathies for the family.

“Unfortunately, this is not the outcome for which we all prayed and hoped,” the statement continued.
