Duchess of Edinburgh delivers statement after woman killed by police motorbike escorting royal

Helen Holland’s family described her as a “respected and well-liked member of the community.” It is believed that the duchess will communicate with her family privately.

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, is “deeply saddened” by the death of an elderly woman who was struck by a police motorbike while escorting the royal, according to Buckingham Palace.

Helen Holland, 81, was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck in west London on 10 May afternoon.

Her Royal Highness extends her profound condolences and sympathies to the entire family of Ms. Holland.

It is believed that the duchess, the wife of Prince Edward and the King’s sister-in-law, will contact Ms Holland’s family privately.

They later stated that they are “devastated” to have lost her under such tragic circumstances.

They stated, “We are saddened and enraged that her life was cut short, and we are eager to hear more information from the IOPC [Independent Office of Police Conduct] as soon as possible to help us understand what occurred.”

Everyone who knew Helen will miss her, and her absence will never be compensated.

Martin, the son of Ms. Holland, stated that she perished from “multiple broken bones and massive internal injuries.”

According to him, she fought for her life for nearly two weeks, but irreversible brain damage terminated the battle today.

He added that she had been using the “safe route of [a] pedestrian crossing” when she was struck by the motorbike.

The IOPC is investigating the incident.

Sophie had expressed her “thoughts and prayers” for Ms. Holland after the accident, and her family told that she was a “beautiful, loving, kind, and caring lady who always put others before herself.”

“Respected and well-liked member of the community” was the mother of four, grandmother of ten, and great-grandmother of seven.

She enjoyed spending precious time with her family, muddy walks with the dogs, and lunches with her friends. She was described as “vibrant for her age, and nothing prevented her from living life to the fullest.”
