According to reports, two flights were diverted to Glasgow Airport and two more to Newcastle International Airport. Normal operations have since been restored.
Monday morning, flights to and from Edinburgh Airport were temporarily halted due to an emergency runway maintenance.
Four flights were diverted, and takeoffs were delayed “for a short time,” according to the airport.
After the alarm was raised at approximately 8:00 a.m., maintenance personnel were dispatched to fix the issue on the taxiway.
Shortly before 8.30 a.m., services were restored.
According to reports, two flights were diverted to Glasgow Airport and two more to Newcastle International Airport.
These flights were anticipated to refuel before their return to Edinburgh.
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport stated, “Arrivals and departures were temporarily suspended while emergency repairs were made to our airfield.”
