  • Microsoft reportedly plans to discontinue Paint 3D on November 4, 2024
  • Users are unhappy, expressing disappointment over the end of the popular app
  • Paint 3D will no longer receive updates or be available in the Microsoft Store

It’s a popular app among aspiring artists.

However, a leaker claims that Microsoft would discreetly discontinue Paint 3D later this year.

The news was first reported by noted leaker ‘phantomofearth,’ who discovered a banner in the Paint 3D application.

‘Paint 3D now has a banner announcing that it will no longer receive updates or be available in the Microsoft Store beginning November 4,’ they announced on X (previously Twitter).

Fans of the app are not pleased with the news, with one dubbing it the ‘end of an era.’

Paint 3D was initially introduced in 2017 and soon became a beloved software among artists.

Unlike its predecessor, Paint, the software enabled users to create three-dimensional masterpieces that they could manipulate from any angle.

‘Whether you’re an artist or just want to experiment with some doodles, Paint 3D makes it simple to unleash your creativity and bring your ideas to life,’ according to the Microsoft Store description.

Some users have reported seeing a banner within the app confirming that it would be deleted soon.

The banner reads, “Paint 3D will not be available in the Microsoft Store or receive future updates beginning November 4, 2024.

Several followers responded to Phantomofearth’s tweets, expressing dissatisfaction with the news.

‘It’s a shame. ‘They could have included it into standard Paint,’ one user said.

Another user noted, ‘It’s better than traditional MS Paint and, unlike the new Paint, lacks AI and MS accounts. This is excellent, and it must continue.

And one said, ‘Paint was supposed to be replaced with Paint 3D, but now Paint 3D will be replaced with Paint lol.’

If you already have Paint 3D installed on your PC, the app should continue to work after November 4.

However, after that date, it will no longer be available for download from the Microsoft Store and will not receive updates.

The announcement came shortly after Microsoft stated that the Start Menu in Windows 11 would soon include advertisements.

Microsoft claims that the advertisements are intended to help customers discover some wonderful apps.

In the update notes, the company writes: “The Recommended section of the Start menu will show some Microsoft Store apps.”

‘These apps are created by a select group of handpicked developers.’
