Plastic industry warms Earth twice as fast as airlines

A new study reveals that the plastics industry emits thousands of tonnes of greenhouse gases annually, which is multiple times worse than the airline industry's contribution. An investigation conducted by researchers at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory revealed that the plastic industry emits an estimated 2.5 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere annually, in contrast to the 1 billion tonnes released by the airline industry.
