Ryan Lowe quits Preston following only one game of the new championship season

The stunning revelation came after only one game of the season, following Preston's poor performance at home against Sheffield United on Friday night. His assistant, Mike Marsh, will take interim command, along with Peter Murphy and Ched Evans. Lowe's relationship with the Lilywhites' fanbase had deteriorated at times last season, and he was booed off the pitch by a portion of the home crowd following the latest defeat. He appeared to have rescued the situation near the end of the previous season, taking Preston into playoff contention, but they lost a critical home game against possible promotion rivals Norwich and have not gained a point since.
