West Brom fired manager Steve Bruce after a terrible start to the season left the club in the relegation zone.

The decision follows the Baggies’ 0-0 draw against Luton Town at home, which extended their winless streak in the Championship to eight games.

According to a club statement, West Bromwich Albion has parted ways with manager Steve Bruce. Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence, and Alex Bruce have also departed from The Hawthorns.

“The club would like to recognize Steve Bruce and his coaching staff for their efforts since their February arrival. The interim head coach of the first team will be Richard Beale, who will be aided by James Morrison and Gary Walsh. The process of hiring a new Manager is currently underway, and a decision will be made in due time.”

Bruce exits with a 25% win percentage, having won eight, drawn twelve, and lost twelve of his 32 games since taking command of West Brom in February. A club with aspirations of returning to the Premier League has endured a dreadful stretch, causing fans to become increasingly outspoken in their discontent.

West Brom has only won once in the Championship this season, putting them two points behind the safety zone. Saturday’s booing of Bruce’s substitutions against Luton was the latest and, as it turned out, a final indication of his strained relationship with the fans.
